Cardiovascular

Cleveland+ is a global destination for developing companies and clinical centers specializing in cardiovascular medicine. In the past two years 12 (soon to be 16) cardiovascular companies have moved to Ohio from places like Michigan, Israel, Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan, Maryland, Oregon, and Brazil.

These businesses are attracted to Northeast Ohio based on the ability to develop market-driven products through collaborating with key opinion leaders at leading healthcare institutions. Cleveland Clinic has been ranked No.1 in the nation for cardiac care by U.S. News and World Report every year since 1995. Clinic doctors and cardiologists have shaped the modern era of heart care with the invention of coronary angiography and coronary artery bypass operation.

University Hospitals’ Center for Clinical Research is one of the top 15 in the country and Case Western Reserve University’s new Cardiovascular Research Institute is a top center dedicated specifically to improving the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Two new regional initiatives, the Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center and the Atrial Fibrillation Innovation Center, provide companies with critical resources for research, commercialization and business development; and a third major R&D initiative is also on the way – Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute are teaming to develop a Center for Research Excellence in Molecular Cardiovascular Innovation.
